MY THOUGHTS ON: RIMMEL EYE SHADOWS

Some time ago I found those small Rimmel eye shadows palettes on a really big sale and just had to get some. I got two Glam'Eyes Quad Eyeshadows in Thrill Seeker (top left) and Green Sapphire (top right). I also got one of those Union Jack lookalikes Glam'Eyes HD Eyeshadows. I didn't went for the classical Union Jack shades though. I chose the black and white version called Black Cab.

The best thing about these Rimmel eye shadows is the packaging. They are perfect for travelling as they're quite small and handy. Because of the square shape they're also very easy to store. What I also really like about them is that they are very easy to use, especially when you're in a rush and don't have time to pick from a wide range of different shades. You just pick one of these and viola, the idea for a perfect eye make-up magically appears!

Those shadows unfortunately aren't very pigmented, especially when it comes to lighter shades like the light pink champagne in Green Sapphire or light grey in Thrill Seeker. The pigmentation of darker shades is better but they still need to be built up. They last about 8 hours without creasing which for me, an owner of oily eyelids, is very good. I have only tried them with eye shadow primer though therefore I can't really justify the lasting power without using the primer first. The applicator provided with the palette is impossible for me to use. I totally prefer using my own brushes. with them the shadows are easy to blend. The next good thing about them is the price but only because I got them on sale. If I paid the full price, I think I would be disappointed.

As for the shades my favourites are definitely the greens, especially the light khaki and shimmery sapphire in Green Saphire. They are perfect for creating the green smoky eye which I have been really loving lately. I also love using the Black Cab's shimmery white and Green Sapphire's pink champagne as highlighters.

Have you ever tried Rimmel eyeshadows? What did you think?

PERFECT EYE SHADOW PALETTES WISHLIST

I've been really loving using neutral eye shadows lately. Actually "lately" is not really a good word here, I've been using them since I learned what eye shadows are and how to use them. I don't really like colourful or full of glitter eye make-up although I have recently started using some more colours such as green or purple. Anyway, browns and grays are and will always be the shades I feel more comfortable with. I've done some research and found seven perfect neutral eye shadow palettes.

The Balm NUDE ‘tude Eyeshadow Palette: The palette is filled with 12 amazing neutral shadows. There are some mattes as well as shimmers and highlighters. What I really like about it is that it has some bold shadows that will help create a definite eye make up.

Clarins The Essentials Eye Make-up Palette Collector Edition: Unfortunately it was only a limited edition and I don't know if it might still be found in the shops but oh boy, this palette is amazing. It consists of 10 eye shadows, all beige, brown or taupe. It's the perfect palette for people who like to stay neutral (like me!).

TOO FACED The Chocolate Bar Eye Palette: Another palette filled with neutral mattes and shimmers but what's even better about this one is that all eye shadows are scented with real chocolate. I've never known who needs their make-up to be scented like food until I tried the Bourjois bronzing powder. That's when I understood.

BOBBI BROWN Old Hollywood Eye Palette: This palette consists of nine neutral eye shadows but what's great about it is that it's filled with warm and cold shadows. It can be used to create a brown warm smoky eye or a classic black smoky eye.

SEPHORA COLLECTION Event Entry Palette: This palette for me is a cheaper version of the Bobbi Brown Old Hollywood palette. It also consists of warm and cold neutral shadows. It's also in a pocket size so that it can be used everywhere. Perfect for travelling!

Sleek Make Up Garden of Eden Palette: Now this is the palette I know I'm going to buy very very soon. It's perfect for the green/hazel colour of my eyes. It has some greens, browns and purples. Still neutral but a little bit out of my comfort zone, exactly what I need!

SMASHBOX Full Exposure Palette: The last palette I would totally love to magically appear in my make-up collection is the Full Exposure Palette by Smashbox. It's also filled with warm and cold shimmers and mattes. What I really like about this one is how organised it is. Shimmers on top, mattes on the bottom. I think this might be my inner OCD speaking here...

Do you own any of these palettes? What do you think about it?
